About Bali
Bali is an island where you can swim in the morning, walk through rice terraces in the afternoon and watch a temple dance in the evening. The beaches on the south coast are good for swimming and surfing, and the water stays warm all year. Distances are short, so even a week gives you the beaches, the hills and one island day trip without rushing.
Inland, Ubud has the rice terraces, jungle walks and art markets. Tanah Lot and Ulun Danu Beratan are the two temple views most people come back with. Waterfalls, volcano views at Kintamani, snorkelling trips and a day on Nusa Penida are all easy add-ons. Balinese food is mild and rice based, and pure vegetarian meals are simple to arrange once we tell the hotel in advance.
We plan the trip around your dates and your group size. Tell us when you want to travel and our team sends you a plan and a quotation. Nothing is booked until you approve it.
Best places to see
- Tanah Lot TempleA sea temple on a rock that gets cut off by the tide. Go in the late afternoon and stay for sunset, which is the reason most people come.
- Tegallalang Rice TerracesStepped paddy fields just north of Ubud with walking paths through them. Early morning is cooler and far quieter than midday.
- UbudThe cultural centre of the island, with the palace, the art market, the Monkey Forest and dance performances most evenings. Good for one full day plus a lazy morning.
- Nusa PenidaA separate island reached by fast boat, known for the Kelingking cliff viewpoint and Angels Billabong. Leave early, as the sea gets choppier through the day.
- Ulun Danu Beratan TempleA lakeside temple in the cool highlands near Bedugul, usually combined with a fruit market stop and a waterfall on the same drive.
- Kintamani and Mount BaturA volcano and crater lake view seen from the rim, best in the morning before cloud builds up. Lunch with the view is the usual plan.
- Uluwatu TempleA clifftop temple on the southern tip with the Kecak fire dance at sunset in an open theatre beside the sea.
- Seminyak and Nusa Dua beachesSeminyak for beach clubs and shopping, Nusa Dua for calm water and water sports. Both work well on a free afternoon.

Good to know
- Indians get a visa on arrival for Indonesia for short tourist stays, and it can be extended once inside the country. We share the form and the photo requirements before you fly.
- The currency is the Indonesian rupiah. Cards work at hotels and larger restaurants, but keep cash for markets, small warungs and temple donations.
- A local SIM or an eSIM bought at the airport is cheap and gives you good data cover across the island.
- Temples ask you to cover your shoulders and knees. A sarong is handed to you at the entrance at most sites.
- Pure vegetarian and Jain food can be arranged with notice. Tell us at the time of booking so we brief the hotels and drivers.
- Traffic in the south is slow at peak hours, so we keep the day plan to one area at a time. Scooters look easy but are best avoided by first time visitors.
